Design is a collaborative process that, when done right, challenges assumptions and rapidly tests solutions. Leave your egos at the door. The user is king/queen.

Helping make ideas a reality, fast

Human-centered Design

Using proven innovation frameworks such as Jobs To Be Done & Business Model Canvas I facilitate collaborative exercises that validate the fit of your product in your chosen market & identify valuable opportunities your organisation may have not yet considered.

Situation
Workplace Central existed in a highly saturated labor hire market. They had an interest in investigating vertical markets where there was a higher perceived value of their services.
How I Helped
I introducing the Business Model Canvas and facilitated a series of business model canvas workshops over a period of 3 months.
The Result
Workplace Central narrowed their field of focus to three vertical markets for testing with the highest perceived value coming from the Allied Health sector. Workplace Central has seen higher than anticipated growth in the market sector and now has a framework for testing their services in a lean and cost effective way.
Situation
Ogilvy Australia was attracted to the Google Ventures Design sprint as a method of replacing the requirements gathering process on digital projects and in some cases replace the pitch.
How I Helped
As UX Design Lead at Ogilvy Brisbane, I was able to assist with the development, iteration and testing of this framework with several global brands.
The Result
While working with Olgilvy I assisted multiple brands to build powerful campaigns with a customised variation of the Google Ventures Design Sprint. Our Design Sprint suited the customer relationships of advertising agencies with more involvement from stakeholders early in the process and less towards the end. We have since seen companies like Aj & Smart reduce the time commitment of key decisions makers in a similar way in their design sprints.
Situation
Christmas holiday consumerism is horrific. This challenge aimed to raise awareness of the environmental cost and impact of this global holiday, and what we can do to change our long term behaviour for sustainable living and reduced environmental impact.
How I Helped
As part of the Global Virtual Design Sprint Challenge, I helped align a multi disciplinary team around a topic we all felt passionate about. We used Mural and Zoom to run the sprint across 5 different time zones. My role was co-facilitator and designer.
The Result
The sprint resulted in a prototype figma prototype for an app that helps loved ones choose greener gifts. The test plan involved guiding targeted traffic from adwords to a one page website promoting the app to early adopters. Success was gauged by registrations within these target groups.

User Experience Design

Taking our research from the previous steps, let’s move onto design. Starting with low fidelity wireframes, we’ll work quickly and collaboratively to ensure we have a user friendly experience for your users to test. I work in Adobe XD, Figma, Axure or Invision

Situation
A highly reputable property consultant in Australia noticed a gap in the market for rental property management software. Through her experience and connections, she had a fair understanding of the missing pieces that would make a solution more valuable than the competition.
How I Helped
Through industry knowledge and user interviews, we identified common problems with existing services. With this information, we worked together to produce detailed interactive wireframes.
The Result
Using the wireframes to present their ideas with clarity, the client proceeded with raising further capital and populating their product backlog. The screens matched with meaningful user stories, contained within epics. A UI designer also took over from here and was able to add an extra layer of polish.
Situation
Workplace Central had built a custom workforce management system for their high volume of recruitment staff, clients and candidates. All of which depended on it to manage theirday-to-day tasks. The issue was that nobody had been responsible for usability, so on-boarding was lengthy and problems were common.
How I Helped
As part of my initial discovery process, I was responsible for setting up a dedicated user testing station for ongoing user interviews. Initially we recorded individual user groups performing their jobs to identify issues, then continued to test prototyped enhancements prior to development.
The Result
A reduction of 45% on time tracked for support, while customer satisfaction increased by 36%.

User Interface Design

I take pride in designing elegant and useful user interfaces, that depend on solid UX research. I adapt to your teams tools of choice, however I’m highly proficient with Adobe XD, Figma, Axure or Invision. Great design should almost go unnoticed.

Situation
Lofty is a New Zealand based startup tackling a big problem. “How might we enable organisations to monitor and improve the mental health of their staff?”
How I Helped
Lofty had an existing product in the market that was quite successful in its own vertical. They had several investors interested in forging forward with a new brand and brand position. We took the opportunity to introduce some highly sought after features that had been requested by users in the past.
The Result
Working remotely via zoom with Adobe XD in a one on one collaborative setting, excited the client and re-engaged stakeholders. We were able to accomplish a lot in one short week, in-order to have key interfaces available for investor presentation.
Situation
A big data company with a novel approach to travel plan automation.
How I Helped
With fantastic data and a vision for exceptional user experiences, the company founder chose to work directly with me to realise his vision.
The Result
Over an 8 month period we collaboratively designed a comprehensive, mobile-first design system.
Situation
A start-up concept to gamify and reward the simple acts of love and doing lovely things for each other.
How I Helped
From low fidelity wireframes, to high fidelity prototypes and pixel perfect components for their design system. I also helped to form a team of developers to deliver an MVP.
The Result
A clean, simple and fun game that served as a proof of concept fo the client and her investors.
Situation
Workplace Central had identified Allied Health as a valuable target market for their labour hire and recruitment services, and needed to present a new sub-brand to the world.
How I helped
Utilising their existing css grid and global top navigation, I designed a responsive landing page for Allied Health marketing campaigns. The page was designed to be easily replicated and repurposed for A/B split tests and also for new sub-brands for new vertical markets they wanted to test in the future.
The Result
This strategy and design yielded a type of clarity that stakeholder were not used it seeing. We were able to spin up a new sub-branded landing page when needed in a very short time frame, and with every action on the page triggering a google analytics event and goal with a dollar value assigned, the pages served as a survey within market segments that were targeted via google adwords.
